Happy Day

The sun is shining! It is amazing what a little sun on your face can do to improve your mood. I was needing some sun so badly. We spent most of the day outside today and now are just chilling out a bit before dinner.

We have been baking hot cross buns, dying Easter eggs (someone had been excited about Easter for about two months!) and making plans for dinner tomorrow - we will be having my family and in-laws over. Grace actually invited everyone over! In my family we will take any excuse to get together for a nice meal, especially if it involves ham.

Tuesday Tune

I love The Clash. In fact, I have loved them from the first moment I heard them. I was in my dad's car. He put London Calling on the tape deck and something in their music just hooked me. They appealed to my rebellious, anti-establishment teenage self in a way no other band did. It didn't hurt that Joe Strummer was kinda cute too.


So I guess this is my homage to The Clash.

Enjoy the little things in life, for someday you will realize they were the big things.

I don't know who said this but it really resonated with me this morning.
I am off to the library with my girl today and then we are going to have a little lunch date. Sushi I think. That girl can eat so much sushi. Especially if it has tobiko on it.

Tuesday Tunes

I have decided to do music post every Tuesday. I love music and it has been a constant throughout my life. There is always music playing in my house and it is a very eclectic mix. Let me know what you think of this - I have seen it done on other blogs and thought it would be fun to try out. I think I will just put on some of my favourite songs and see where it goes from there!
My very first Tuesday Tune is going to be something I listened to earlier this evening. I love this song....

...coat of paint.
We painted our kitchen yesterday! Yay! Begone nasty orange, hello turquoise - my favourite colour. It is almost a Tiffany's blue.

I actually took my favourite cardigan to the paint store with me and matched the colour. It is Eco Spec Benjamin Moore in Fairy Tale Blue and it is such a happy shade. I know I just painted it yesterday but every time I go in my kitchen I smile.
That's a pretty good thing in my books.

Hello again!

Where do I begin? How about with some exciting news....
Brazen handbags can now be found at the LiveArt Gallery in Kaslo, B.C.! Woohoo! If you are ever up in Kaslo go have a look at the gallery. They have some beautiful art for sale.
A few weeks ago I went to my friend, Kalika's, baby shower. The always lovely Julia and Mimi were the planners/hosts of an incredibly low key brunch. There were no atrocious baby shower games just delicious food and lots of fun conversations with some wonderful people. Julia and Mimi commissioned me to make a diaper bag for the soon-to-be mama and papa. They had a very specific idea in mind and I was so nervous about making this bag for them! In the end I think it turned out beautifully! They loved it, Kalika loved it....




...and I hope papa feels like he can tote it around as well.
I made the baby a little lamb (I have been saving this blue lamb's wool sweater for a long time. Finally a use for it!) and a sweet little pair of shoes.


I have been very busy with sewing, doing lots of custom work. I love custom and welcome it.

I finally have my flower sleeve finished. Well, I'm still not sure if it is finished! The rest of my arm looks so naked! Tada!

I love the softness of it. The sheer girly-ness. Now I need to get something a little gnarly. Just to balance it out, you know?!?!
