Another one down....and so many more to go.

I have impressed my self this week. So much knitting and sewing, its making my head spin.
I finished this little hat for my friend's new baby. She is oh-so-lovely. The pattern is the Lil'Devil baby hat and it couldn't have turned out any better.

My friend's were horrified by the amount of pink stuff arriving so I decided to do something a little crazy and very much not pink. Seeing it finished I am certain they will love it!
I was supposed to get tattooed today but my artist is very sick so we had to reschedule. I took a vacation day from work to get that appointment so I just got a day off. It has been great. We slept in. I sat in front of the fire knitting a pair of slippers for my girl and had my coffee. Then after the Mister made us lunch he took G. swimming. I stayed home because I hate the pool. All the chlorine makes my skin itch and gives me a headache so I just stay as far away as possible. Instead, I had a bath, started reading a really good library book, made some tea and am going to knit some more.
So luxurious. xo

Finished!

I have not been sewing a whole lot for the last little bit. Neck and shoulder issues have been hampering my efforts. But yesterday I finished two, count em', two pieces of clothing. And neither of the garments are for me.

The first one is a skirt I made for my friend, Erin Jane. She is just the cutest person! I made a skirt very similar to this one for myself and she liked it so much she asked me to make one for her. She wanted it to sit quite high on her waist, more up around her ribcage. And she wanted it short! So short she got. I love the fabric she picked out ( a gorgeous blue and black wool herringbone) and the buttons are like little glittering jewels.

I changed the original pattern by taking away the elastic back waist and just made it a plain waistband. I also put two back darts in and omitted the bottom band.
I hope she likes it as much as I do.
And now for Garment Number Two. An adorable pair of sailor pants for The Wee Beast.

I simply added some length to take these from high waters to full length pants. They are made out of some olive corduroy that I had hanging around and the buttons were from my stash. My kid is growing like crazy. Her goal is to be tall enough to ride the water slide at the pool so she has been packing away the food and she is growing so much. As of this week she is almost tall enough to ride the slide! She is also growing out of all her pants. That was why I decided to make these for her. And she rarely seems to be able to wear clothes off the rack. She is quite tall and also really skinny. If pants fit her in length they are way too big around the waist and vice versa. Custom made for her all the way!
The pattern is by Oliver + S. Their patterns are awesome! The instructions are so simple to follow and there are some fantastic diagrams which makes them great for beginner sewers. The clothes are super chic too.
The Wee Beast loves the new pants and has declared them "So beautiful". That makes this Mommy smile. I have plans to make them in denim too. Maybe with some red buttons? xo

Woohoo!!!!

So there will be no pictures and not very many words but I just needed to tell the world something awesome. Two of my very best friends became parents yesterday! YAY! Their lovely little girl arrived almost three weeks early but she is healthy and beautiful. Daddy said it was the best day of his life. I know how that feels. Seeing them all together brought tears to my eyes. Congratulations, Jo and Ray! I love you all so much! xoxoxo
